NRMCA Announces Staff Promotions Across Multiple Departments

Beginning in 2024, NRMCA has promoted a number of staff members in various departments as a reward for superior performance.
Karthik Obla has been promoted to senior vice president, technical services. Mr. Obla has been with NRMCA for almost 20 years, representing the ready mixed concrete industry in the standards arena on supplementary cementitious materials, performance requirements, durability, acceptance testing and other issues. He is well recognized at ACI, ASTM, TRB and other organizations that impact industry standards and practice. Mr. Obla has managed the research activities and contract testing at the NRMCA Laboratory. He has also developed and delivered two one-day courses, Improving Concrete Quality and Handling Concrete Specifications, Low Strength Problems and Mixture Submittals. Mr. Obla is an instructor of the Technical Short Course, other technical training webinars and courses. He administers the NRMCA Excellence in Quality Award from which is derived the annual Quality Survey.
Mr. Obla holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and is a licensed engineer in Maryland.
Amanda Muller has been named senior director, membership engagement. In her 3+ years with NRMCA, she has initiated numerous tasks aimed at developing a more engaged membership; improved NRMCA’s member and prospect database; and conveyed the value of NRMCA membership to many local, state and regional audiences. In her new role, Ms. Muller will manage the daily activities of the membership team and drive opportunities for continued engagement and expansion of NRMCA’s membership, both Producer and Associate.
Ms. Muller earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration and an MBA at California State University – Chico.
Brandon Wray has been promoted to senior director, building innovations. In this role, Mr. Wray promotes concrete and concrete technologies throughout the design community with a special focus on sustainability. He has recently taken on several new responsibilities, including an expanded territory of California, Nevada and Arizona, and a greater role in NRMCA’s Concrete Design Center which encompasses specification reviews and carbon accounting. Prior to joining NRMCA in 2021, Mr. Wray worked as a civil engineer for NRMCA Producer member US Concrete where he assisted in developing, evaluating and launching various concrete technologies throughout North America. Most recently, he was a design manager on the project management team at Clark Pacific, a world renowned precast concrete designer and manufacturer.
Mr. Wray earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from San Jose State University.
