NRMCA, Pennsylvania State Affiliate and Nudura Hold Low Carbon Concrete Symposium

On May 15, NRMCA, the Pennsylvania Aggregate & Concrete Association (PACA) and Nudura Insulated Concrete Forms teamed up to present the Low Carbon Concrete Symposium at Toftrees Golf Resort in State College, PA. The event focused on innovative approaches that fortify structures against disasters while promoting energy independence. Some 65 attendees learned more about resilient building design, explored integration of zero energy and resilient construction methods for sustainable communities.

After an introduction by NRMCA Senior Director, Building Innovations, Frank Mruk (seen here in front of podium) who presented the NRMCA Carbon Calculator with PACA's Ken Crank, other presentations included:

  • Developing and Building with ICF by Robert Redmond, Nudura
  • EPDs Made Easy by NRMCA's Matt Lemay and Brian Davis of Climate Earth
  • Type IL Cement by Clayton McCabe, Argos Cement, a Summit Materials company and Buzzi
  • Solutions to Lower Your Carbon Footprint by Dominic Giovannucci, Heidelberg Materials
  • NRMCA Concrete Carbon Calculator Tool, Ken Crank of PACA and Frank Mruk
  • Building with Sustainability in Mind - Low Carbon Concrete, PSU College of Engineering Research & Teaching Space; Centre Concrete, Rory McCoy, (PSU-Facility Management & Whiting Turner) and UPMC, Mercy Center
  • EPD's and the Concrete Producer by Justin Bryan of Bryan Materials
