NRMCA’s Lionel Lemay will moderate an online panel on Concrete Mix Optimization during the Portland Cement Association (PCA) Sustainability Summit on August 13. This expert panel will discuss the concept of mix design optimization as one way to reduce concrete’s carbon footprint. It will highlight the tremendous CO2 saving opportunities of reducing the total paste volume of concrete while simultaneously using high performance, low‐clinker cements. The panel will discuss the use of SCMs, admixtures and aggregate gradation among other strategies. It will also discuss methodologies and tools used to conduct plant-level analytics, including EPDs to optimize mixtures for performance and carbon footprint.
The panel of experts are:
- Heather Brown, vice president QC/QA, Irving Materials, Inc.
- Ryan Cialdella, vice president of innovation and market development, Ozinga
- Alana Guzzetta, National Research Laboratory manager, Vulcan Materials Company
The PCA Sustainability Summit takes place from August 13 - 15, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern time and includes topics on cement, concrete, construction, carbonation and carbon capture.
