NRMCA’s Concrete Technologist Training and Certification, commonly referred to as the "Short Course,” is deeply tied to the Association’s long history of providing professional education services to the concrete industry. Colin Lobo, instructor of the course and NRMCA executive vice president, engineering, said “the Short Course was one of the first education and certification programs offered by NRMCA, dating back to the 1960s”. Today, Colin continues to ensure that this long-running program delivers value and up-to-date training to Association members. Other course instructors have included the recently retired Gary Mullings, NRMCA Senior Vice President, Technical Services, Karthik Obla and guest presenters on specific topics.
The Short Course covers fundamentals of concrete technology, materials and ready mix specifications, and ASTM and ACI standards along with a wide range of other topics in concrete technology. This course is an ideal option for quality control and technological services personnel within ready mixed concrete companies as well as material, equipment and service providers, and technical sales professionals. However, this course is also enriching to executives and other ready mix professionals.
"The NRMCA Concrete Technologist Level 2 and 3 certifications are well recognized in the industry,” Lobo added. Members and concrete professionals more broadly can benefit greatly from the knowledge, skill and confidence which can be gained through this training course.
NRMCA members can provide feedback about the Short Course and other NRMCA programs at the Learning and Development Team’s Educational Offerings highlight session at ConcreteWorks on Saturday, October 12, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
