The International Code Council’s (ICC) Performance Code Consensus Committee convened on September 24 - 25, focusing on the development of provisions for the reimagined ICC Performance Code. Attended by committee members and industry experts, the meeting was held at ICC headquarters in Washington, DC.

NRMCA Senior Vice President, Codes and Standards, Shamim Rashid-Sumar (seen here, fourth from left) is a committee member of the ICC Performance Code Consensus Committee and serves as chairwoman of the subgroup on Embodied Carbon and vice chairwoman of the subgroup on Functional Recovery.

As part of Build With Strength’s code advocacy initiatives, NRMCA advocates for performance-based approaches in meeting building design objectives, including reduction of embodied carbon as well as incorporating resilience measures above minimum code requirements.
