Last week, NRMCA participated in the International Code Council (ICC) 2024 Annual Conference and Expo held in Long Beach, CA. Director, Energy Codes and Standards, Darryl Dixon and Senior Vice President, Codes and Standards, Shamim Rashid-Sumar (seen here with Rashid-Sumar at left) discussed resilience and sustainability in the built environment with conference attendees, showcasing NRMCA’s selection for an EPA grant aimed at reducing embodied greenhouse gases as well as NRMCA’s status and offerings as an ICC Preferred Education Provider.
NRMCA’s booth also included information on NRMCA’s Concrete Design Center, 2024 Survey of Insurance Costs and the Carbon Calculator tool.
The ICC Annual Conference and Expo brings together building safety professionals, including building and fire code officials, architects, engineers, designers and code experts for education and committee meetings. Following the conference, Rashid-Sumar and Dixon participated in the second round of the ICC’s Group A Committee Action Hearings. NRMCA successfully defended the position of concrete in the International Building Code’s (IBC) fire safety provisions and provided testimony on topics including but not limited to restrained conditions for concrete structural members, fire wall construction and fire testing provisions for concrete.
