Last week, Build With Strength Vice President, Building Innovations, Michael Wymant and Director of Codes and Standards Dr. Julian Mills-Beale attended the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Digital Twins 2024 conference held in Maryland. (Seen here are Wymant at left along with Mills-Beale.) NRMCA has demonstrated its commitment to innovation and sustainability by sponsoring and participating in the event. "This strategic partnership underscores the importance of digital transformation in the construction industry," Wymant said.
By supporting NIBS' digital twin initiatives, NRMCA recognizes the potential of this technology to revolutionize the way buildings are designed, constructed and operated. Digital twins - virtual replicas of physical assets - offer numerous benefits to the construction industry, including:
- Enhanced Design and Planning - Digital twins enable architects and engineers to visualize and analyze building designs in a virtual environment, identifying potential issues early on and optimizing design decisions.
- Improved Construction Efficiency - By simulating construction processes, contractors can streamline workflows, reduce errors and minimize construction time and costs.
- Optimized Operations and Maintenance - Real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance capabilities provided by digital twins can help facility managers identify potential problems before they occur, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
- Sustainable Building Practices - Digital twins can be used to assess the environmental impact of buildings, optimize energy efficiency and promote sustainable building practices.
NRMCA's support for NIBS' digital twin initiatives aligns with its mission to promote the use of concrete in sustainable and resilient infrastructure. By embracing digital technologies, the construction industry can achieve greater efficiency, safety and sustainability.
