NRMCA’s Workforce Development Committee (WDC) convened virtually last Wednesday, January 15, with over 50 stakeholders in attendance. Members of the committee considered issues pertaining to career and leadership development, HR best practices and functional job certification programs. The committee continues to prioritize robust educational programs and the preparation of critical segments of the industry, such as mixer drivers, for success and growth.
In this first of three meetings, Chairwoman Cassie Krause of Carew Concrete & Supply Co., Inc. and Vice Chairwoman Delta Mitchum of Thomas Concrete, Inc., encouraged the committee to continue to focus on initiatives that will drive the most value to members and the industry. This included a preliminary review of the committee’s original goals from 2017 as they compare to its current commitments.
The next two meetings are scheduled for:
- March 4 - 7, Annual Convention - The WDC will reconvene to make decisions in response to the questions posed during the previous meeting.
- April 28 - 30, Spring Meeting - WDC members will participate in a working session to take action on the decisions from the prior meeting and achieve set goals.
The WDC welcomes the valued insights and participation of new members. If you are interested in joining the committee, you can register here to be included in the distribution list for meetings and the bimonthly newsletter.
The committee also reviewed the proposed design for the new Developing Industry Leaders (DIL) program which includes a remodeled curriculum, increased student interaction, intentional networking and dedicated faculty. The WDC will share the final DIL program design at the NRMCA Annual Convention for validation and approval to proceed. The Association is eager to offer members a revitalized version of the program which addresses learners’ interests and aspirations to build the industry’s future workforce.
