Concrete Council in Missouri Produces Weekly E-Mail Blast to Promote Concrete

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

For years, the Concrete Council in Missouri has produced a weekly email blast to architects, engineers, public agencies, owners, members and others as part of an overall concrete promotion program. Each year, a new focus is selected; past themes have included That's Concrete!?, That's TiltUp!?, That's ICF?!, etc., featuring case studies from local projects or from the Build With Strength program. The e-mail blasts also include details for upcoming events with links to register online.

This year, the appeal (seen here) is to the decision-maker and his or her desire to be perceived as smart. The program makes them the focus, rather than concrete. The program will be supplemented with related materials, all directed toward helping specifiers look smart to their superiors, clients, taxpayers and others.

"The social currency of looking smart is a universal emotion and this program is a weekly source of material that just happens to focus on why using concrete is a smart decision," said Oliver (Skip) Dulle of the Concrete Council.

Other weekly topics for upcoming e-mail blasts include Parking Lot Overlays, Crown Curb, ICF Schools, CIP Constructability, Real-Time Strength Monitoring, Parking Lots/Specify Concrete First, Internal Curing, TiltUp for Versatility, Asset Financing, CIP Parking Structures, Life-Cycle Cost Analysis, Lower Utility Costs/Net-Zero, Roadway Overlays, Super-flat Floors, Durability vs. Strength, ADA-Compliant Trails and Shared Use Path, Brighter at Night Parking Lots and Pet-Friendly Trails.
