The Concrete Council of St. Louis recently offered its first Concrete Inspection Seminar for contractors, engineers and public agency inspectors in the metro St. Louis area which encompasses part of Missouri and Illinois. The event quickly sold out with 80 participants (many seen here) and a waiting list already in place for the next scheduled seminar. The full-day seminar, for which 6 hours of PDH credit were awarded, addressed the following topics:
- Concrete Mix Designs
- Transport and Receiving Ready-Mix Concrete Considerations
- QC/QA Testing
- Placement Part 1 – Logistics, Scheduling, Equipment and Crew
- Placement Part 2 – Inspector Duties, Observations, Documentation and Curing
- Jointing and Reinforcement
- Sealing
- Lessons Learned and Best Practices for Dispute Resolution
Concrete Council Engineer Jesse Jonas, PE, conceived and organized the event and it exceeded all expectations, said the council's Oliver "Skip" Dulle. "The impetus behind the seminar was to provide education and information as well as to promote concrete pavement, but the primary objective was to help ensure quality concrete placement as one of our best promotional tools," he said.
