Six-Month Extension an Option as Transportation Bill Remains in Limbo

As partisan sniping continues in discussion of a new surface transportation bill, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, has floated the idea of extending current funding for six months if the conference committee can't reach agreement on a long-term bill. "If we get up to June 30th, I am not interested in some 30-day extension," he said, adding that he wanted to "move this thing out of the political realm that it appears to be in at this moment."
