Maschmeyer Concrete Company
The Maschmeyer family started building single-family residences in the Detroit, Michigan metropolitan area in the mid-1940s. As the GI's returned from World War II, there was a need for affordable homes and the Maschmeyer homes sold quickly. To keep up with production, Troy Maschmeyer, Sr. decided he would benefit from supplying himself with concrete. In 1948 he opened his first ready mixed concrete plant. After building a number of communities in suburban Detroit, Mr. Maschmeyer retired from residential building and concentrated on the ready mixed concrete business and industrial building and development. Sioux Corporation
Sioux was founded in 1939 in Beresford, South Dakota, initially manufacturing steam cleaners used to clean automobile engines. In 1965, the company was sold to John and Virginia Finger, who began designing additional models of steam cleaners and hot or cold water pressure washers, with larger capacities and pressures for applications in other industries. Sioux distributorships were established throughout the U.S. and in other countries. In the early 1960s, Sioux built its first instantaneous water heater for a concrete batch plant. Read more.
