The annual 2016 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo wrapped up last week at the Los Angeles convention center. Still the largest green building gathering held each year, hundreds of booths filled the expo hall where tens of thousands of attendees explored green innovations. Acclaimed architect Bjarke Ingels, NAHB’s chief economist Robert Dietz and developer Lendlease's Geoff Dutaillis, were some of the notable speakers providing inspiration at the conference. NRMCA’s staff Lionel Lemay, Tien Peng and Brett Ruffing were on hand to promote the Build with Strength (BWS) campaign, offering attendees design assistance and other industry sustainability programs. Several Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) producers provided forms for display and join NRMCA in the BWS coalition booth to promote innovative materials and market transformation. The exhibit attracted over 150 architects, engineers and developers interested in building with concrete.

This year’s GreenBuild announced a partnership with the Investor Confidence Project as an underwriting certification system for energy efficiency projects and dramatic changes to the LEED Homes Multifamily Low-rise and Multifamily Mid-rise rating systems to broaden the market share of LEED multifamily. In addition, the American Institute of Architects announced its Material Matters campaign to educate architects around the nation about the complex material transparency movement. Build with Strength supports NRMCA members with resources to help members and state affiliates in green building, resilient construction and other key strategies to build market share.
