The NRMCA Government Affairs team joined fellow members of the North American Concrete Alliance (NACA) in meetings at congressional offices to advocate for an infrastructure bill. For the past four months, NACA has been active on Capitol Hill meeting with congressional staff and lobbying for federal infrastructure investment. While an infrastructure bill may not materialize before November or may move in smaller bits and pieces, these meetings serve to make NACA members a meaningful part of the conversation and a resource to congressional offices.
In addition to lobbying for infrastructure investment in general, NACA specifically advocates for a sustainable funding source for the Highway Trust Fund, maintaining the tax-exempt status of municipal bonds and lifting the cap on Private Activity Bonds, providing not just policy suggestions but also funding mechanisms broadly supported by the industry.
NACA is a coalition of 12 cement and concrete-related associations dedicated to addressing industry-wide priorities in the areas of research, safety, education and government affairs. NACA’s membership includes NRMCA and the Portland Cement Association. NACA members hold weekly conference calls to coordinate activities and share information about political and policy developments relevant to the industry.
