NRMCA invites HR and talent development executives to attend NRMCA's new Workforce Development Committee when it holds its first meeting in Oklahoma City, April 25-26. The meeting’s goal is to set the direction and format of the committee’s work. Falling under the huge umbrella of “improving industry recruitment and retention,” preliminary plans are to have task groups examine a number of possible directions, including:
• RMC-CDL Instruction/Tech School Partnerships/Vocational Skilled Trades/Veteran Outplacement Services (study operations entry-level recruitment and retention challenges and possible solutions)
• Developing Industry Leaders (DIL) Program/College Recruitment/Long-term Career Planning to retain and grow middle management
• Educational and Advancement Services/Concrete University (RMC industry standards-based training and services)
• Federal Legislative, Regulatory Affairs and Advocacy (as they impact employee and labor relations)
• Survey/Data Collection and Analysis (advise on NRMCA’s Annual Compensation and Mixer Driver Recruitment & Retention surveys)
• Benefit Management
The meeting will be facilitated by Jathan Janove, an employment law attorney with 30 years’ experience, including clients in the ready mixed concrete industry. He is an author and perennial speaker at the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and American Management Association conferences. In his consulting business, Mr. Janove services include strategic planning, executive coaching, facilitation, team building, leadership, HR and conflict resolution skills training.
