Senior Vice President, Local Paving, Phil Kresge recently attended a meeting of the Central Ohio Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), where he presented The Why’s and How’s of Selling Concrete. The presentation included a look at the historic trends in concrete production, specifically focusing on the relationship between concrete production and single-family housing construction. Additionally, the current state of the industry was discussed.
Kresge used the opportunity to highlight NRMCA’s Build With Strength and Pave Ahead campaigns and the targeted efforts of both. In describing the Pave Ahead program, Kresge introduced the NRMCA Concrete Parking Lots Boot Camp and reported on the successes of past participants. There was considerable interest as Kresge discussed the latest efforts of the wood industry regarding cross laminated timber and wood high-rise construction, especially during discussion of the International Code Council (ICC) Building Code Proposal G108. Kresge directed attendees to the Build With Strength Web site and encouraged them to get involved to help defeat the proposal.
