On Monday, the House and Senate agriculture committees released the joint text of the compromise of the five-year reauthorization of the Farm Bill. In a win for the ready mixed concrete industry and the Stop the Timber Innovation Act Coalition led by NRMCA, the conference bill did not include the Tall Wood Building Prize Competition or other mass timber building competitions or programs.
NRMCA Government Affairs has been monitoring the progress of the Farm Bill in conference committee and keeping in contact with Members of Congress, their staff and staff on the respective agriculture committees to maintain the pressure opposing these provisions. The Farm Bill was passed by the Senate on Tuesday, December 11, and is expected to pass the House by the end of the week. Special thanks to the many, many NRMCA member companies and their employees for joining the fight against federally funded mass timber building competitions.
