Advocacy Continues During Coronavirus Shutdown

Despite being subject to stay-at-home orders and quarantine, NRMCA and our allied associations have continued our Capitol Hill outreach and advocacy.

• Last week, the Highway Materials Group met virtually and drafted a letter supporting additional funding for state Departments of Transportation.
• Each Friday, the North American Concrete Alliance convenes its weekly conference call to discuss developments, opportunities and priorities in the federal government’s COVID-19 response, as well as in other legislative developments.
• NRMCA, NSSGA and PCA continue advocacy regarding the designation of construction as a critical infrastructure sector with the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
• NRMCA joined the Modernize the Truck Fleet Coalition in urging Congress to waive the federal excise tax on new trucks for remainder of 2020.
• NRMCA has conducted Capitol Hill meetings following up on its Hours of Service advocacy earlier in the year and the reintroduction of the Disaster Savings and Resilient Construction Act.

NRMCA and our allied associations remain in close contact and coordination through this challenging time and continue to look for opportunities to advance a pro-ready mixed concrete, pro-business, pro-construction agenda.
