The Safety, Environmental & Operations Committee (SEO) has named Eileen Dickson, NRMCA vice president of education, as the 2021 Joseph E. Carpenter Award recipient. The award is named in honor of Joseph E. Carpenter of Rinker Materials, West Palm Beach, FL, who was instrumental in the formation and early operation of the NRMCA Committee on Maintenance. The award was instituted in 1988 and is presented annually to persons who have demonstrated outstanding lifetime contributions to the ready mixed concrete industry in the fields of operations, environmental and safety.
In earning this award, Mrs. Dickson is recognized for her longtime support of OEM/OES/SEO committee activities. She has gone above and beyond her NRMCA duties by being an integral part of every NRMCA Mixer Driver Championship since its inception in 2006. She has primary responsibilities for conducting and grading the written exam portion of the event and has conducted the reaction time station for the event and is an instrumental part of the awards dinner.
She joined NRMCA in July 2000 and serves as staff liaison to the Workforce Development Committee, which includes oversight of issues, initiatives and third-party partnerships that impact industry employees. She manages the association training, professional development, certification programs, leadership programs, webinars, videos and their accompanying publications, the industry’s career-centric STEPS certification program as well as legislative and regulatory issues pertaining to human resources and employment law. She also administers the annual Mixer Driver Recruitment & Retention Survey and the Innovation-in-Training award program. She is NRMCA’s liaison to CONEXPO-CON/AGG’s Education Committee.
Eileen is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and Association for Talent Development. She holds a master of science degree from The Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business with additional postgraduate work in adult learning and instructional systems design from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
