Last week, NRMCA exhibited at the 11th Annual Spring Symposium hosted jointly by the New Jersey Chapters of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA). Shamim Rashid-Sumar, vice president, fire codes and standards, (seen here) and Derek Torres, project manager, concrete promotion, represented NRMCA at the symposium. The event brought together fire protection engineers, contractors and other fire safety professionals from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York to engage in industry discussions and continuing professional education. Shamim also presented Benefits and Fire Resistance Qualities of Concrete in Construction. The fire-safety focused SFPE NJ chapter and its membership were appreciative of the support from NRMCA and lots of interest was generated regarding ICF construction, particularly among insurance and risk professionals.
Build With Strength, a coalition led by NRMCA, offers presentations to architects, engineers, and building and fire code officials as part of its education efforts to promote safety and resiliency and help place more concrete.
