The benefits of ready mixed concrete for first responder facilities were recently featured at the Station Design Conference held in St. Louis, reports NRMCA Senior Director, Building Innovations, Donn Thompson. The Build With Strength team, in partnership with the Concrete Council of St. Louis, participated in the event which connected architects with fire district and police administrators.
Build With Strength was the first “vendor” to sponsor the annual pre-conference one-on-one program, where fire and law enforcement personnel could schedule sessions with teams of architects to discuss plans for new or expanded facilities. It provided NRMCA with the ability to present the resilient and energy efficiency benefits of concrete products and systems to program attendees. Thompson joined his colleague, NRMCA Program Manager Derek Logan, and Oliver “Skip” Dulle, executive director of the Concrete Council of St. Louis at the event. They reported tremendous interest in insulating concrete forms and tilt up construction. Contacts for numerous projects and educational follow-up throughout the U.S. will be done by the Build With Strength team, Thompson said.
“The ability to offer stronger, more wind, fire and flood resistant enclosure for these facilities is a real plus,” said Thompson. “These attendees really need more effective solutions to better enable continued support of their communities following disruptive events.”
