NRMCA Seeks Concrete Producer Participation in Industry-Wide EPD and Benchmark Report Version 4.0
NRMCA invites concrete producers to participate in the new Version 4.0 of the Industry-Wide Environmental Product Declaration (IW-EPD) and Benchmark Report for ready mixed concrete. NRMCA has published the IW-EPD since 2013. NRMCA members and non-members can participate in the IW-EPD.
Why should you participate?
- EPDs are required by multiple LEED credits, Buy Clean regulations and carbon credit programs. Participating companies can use the IW-EPD to represent the environmental impacts of their concrete to satisfy these requirements.
- Green building standards include optimization reports, which require you to compare product-specific impacts to the industry average. Companies must provide data to the IW-EPD and Benchmark Report to make this comparison.
- Concrete contributes significantly to LEED and EPDs help design teams meet the requirements.
- By participating, you demonstrate leadership in environmental stewardship and your company will be able to compete in the green building marketplace.
What’s new in Version 4?
- Expansion from 72 mix designs to 100+ mix designs, including air-entrained and non-air-entrained applications, and a new high-strength category above 8,000 PSI.
- Subregional benchmarks at the metro-area or state level, which will help local specifiers and policymakers set appropriate, achievable carbon reduction goals.
To participate in the NRMCA IW-EPD v4, please download the registration form from the NRMCA EPD webpage and send it to IWEPD@nrmca.org. You can also view a webinar explaining the process of collecting data and developing the IW-EPD on the same webpage.
