NRMCA Advocates for Resilience and Sustainability at Building Innovation Conference

Last week, NRMCA participated in the National Institute of Building Sciences 2024 Building Innovation Conference (BI2024), an event that brought together government agencies, contractors, architects, scientists, and other public and private stakeholders to improve the built environment. The focus was on resilience, technology, and building performance and sustainability.

NRMCA's Darryl Dixon, director, energy codes and standards; Tiffany Reed-Villarreal, director, sustainability codes and standards; and Shamim Rashid-Sumar, senior vice president, codes and standards, exhibited and discussed with conference attendees the Association’s activities in resilience and sustainability in the built environment. They showcased NRMCA's Concrete Design Center, specifications expertise, 2024 Survey of Insurance Costs and the new Carbon Calculator Tool.

As part of the conference, Tiffany Reed-Villarreal (seen here) presented on Addressing Sustainability Through Codes and Standards. She assessed the role of sustainability codes and standards in driving transparency in the AEC industry while highlighting concrete’s contributions to sustainability and innovation in current buy-clean federal and state requirements.
