NRMCA has named Ms. Lorri Soule of Producer member Miles Sand & Gravel Company, Puyallup, WA, and Auburn Concrete of Auburn, ME, as the recipients of its 8th Annual Safety Awards. They were honored earlier this month at ConcreteWorks held just east of Denver in Aurora, CO. Ms. Soule is the corporate safety manager for Miles Sand & Gravel Company in Washington. Recipients were honored for tireless work and commitment of safety leadership in the ready mixed concrete industry.
NRMCA’s Annual Safety Award acknowledges the significant contribution that safe work practices give to the growth and success of individuals and individual companies and the ready mixed concrete industry as a whole. The NRMCA Annual Safety Award is presented to an individual and/or company whose actions represent the very highest in the advancement of safety in the ready mixed concrete industry. The award program is generously sponsored by the Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau (TMMB).
Miles’ senior executives said that “Lorri’s innovative strategies and unwavering commitment have not only elevated safety protocols but have also inspired a profound shift in how safety is perceived and practiced across all Miles organizations.” Ms. Soule oversaw a 31% increase in worker hours and an impressive decreased injury rate of 55%. “Lorri Soule’s leadership and dedication have transformed safety standards at Miles Sand & Gravel Company and beyond, exemplifying a commitment to excellence that goes beyond expectations.”
The Auburn Concrete award submission included the following from its insurance broker, “I have been working side by side with Auburn Concrete for the past 2.5 years as their insurance broker. In the past 2.5 years I have seen nothing less than a 100% commitment to safety and fostering a partnership of innovation which has led to great success in area of safety. To say they have been anything less than unrelenting in their pursuit of safety would be an understatement.”
