Build with Strength, a coalition of NRMCA comprised of fire safety professionals, engineers, architects and industry experts committed to strengthening the nation’s building codes and building more resilient communities, congratulate New Jersey Assemblymen Wayne DeAngelo and Craig Coughlin, along with State Senators Steve Sweeney and Brian Stack on their recent election victories. The annual 2017 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo wrapped up last week at the Boston convention center, reports NRMCA's Tien Peng. The conference is still the largest green building gathering each year, with hundreds of booths filling the expo hall where tens of thousands of attendees explored green innovations. Former President Bill Clinton, Cradle to Cradle author William McDonough and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson provided inspirational speeches while NRMCA’s Peng and his colleague James Bogdan were on hand to promote the Build with Strength campaign and other industry sustainability programs at the education sessions.
Government Affairs
NRMCA needs you to come to Washington on Tuesday, November 28, for the final NRMCA Quarterly DC Days of 2017. We will focus our November meetings on items related to tax reform and the year-end spending bills. DC Days provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to hear from the ready mixed concrete industry. DC Days meetings were instrumental in many of NRMCA’s 2017 wins. Special thanks to those NRMCA members throughout the year who took the time to come to Washington and make an impact for the industry. As we approach the end of the year, we need to continue to ensure that Members of Congress hear from the ready mixed concrete industry. Please let us know if you can make it to Washington on November 28. The more attendees, the stronger the voice of ready mixed concrete! For more information and to RSVP, please contact Andrew Tyrrell at atyrrell@nrmca.org. NRMCA is now accepting entries for its 2018 Kids Art Contest, sponsored by the Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau. The theme for the contest is "Make America’s Roads Great Again." The contest is open to children up to grade 12 who have a relationship with an NRMCA member. The Ready Mixed Concrete Congressional Caucus is a newly-formed bipartisan caucus dedicated to educating Members of Congress about the ready mixed industry and advancing policies that support ready mixed concrete. NRMCA needs your help to build this caucus; you can help by sending a letter with your company logo to your Member of Congress or to any Member of Congress where you have business operations, asking that they join the caucus (click here for a sample letter). Please feel free to personalize the letter with your company’s information and employment numbers. NRMCA Government Affairs staff is happy to provide any assistance and can provide you the names and e-mail addresses of the chiefs of staff and legislative directors for the Members of Congress you wish to contact. Be sure to copy Andrew Tyrrell at atyrrell@nrmca.org or Kerri Leininger at kleininger@nrmca.org when you send your letter so we can follow up with that Member or staff person. If you have any questions, please contact Andrew Tyrrell. Calendar
