On Tuesday, the NRMCA Safety, Environment and Operations (SEO) Department professionals were on hand for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) announcement of the Top 10 Violations across both the construction industry and industries in general for fiscal year 2018. The rollout of the latest data took place at the National Safety Council (NSC) Congress & Expo held in Houston. OSHA annually releases the new information at the NSC event. Buildings
Build With Strength is partnering with the Insulating Concrete Forms Manufacturers Association (ICFMA) to enhance the construction infrastructure to build with ICFs. Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs) are quickly becoming the method of choice for all forms of construction, including single and multi-family, hotels, schools and offices – all forms of residential and commercial construction. The training is driven locally by NRMCA state affiliates and is targeting concrete contractors, framers, masons and other trades that will learn the techniques to expand their construction services portfolio and be more competitive in today’s construction environment. This course will provide basic ICF training to begin building with one of the fastest growing building systems on the market. Four events are currently scheduled, including:

Pavement
The long-awaited updates to NRMCA’s Pervious Concrete Contractor Certification Program have now been completed and roll-out of the latest version is underway, said Senior Vice President, Local Paving, Phil Kresge. NRMCA is asking current Local Sponsoring Groups (LSG’s) to renew their intent to administer the program and to update contact information. E-mails are being sent to each LSG and include re-approval applications. NRMCA’s local paving engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) will present a 2-day Design of Concrete Pavements course in the Cincinnati/Covington, KY area beginning December 6. This course will provide instruction on how to design and detail concrete pavements used in highways, streets and parking lots by considering the traffic loads, soil conditions and resulting pavement stresses. In addition to designing conventional concrete pavements, this course will provide introductions to innovative products such as pervious concrete, concrete overlays and roller compacted concrete.
