Engineering
Over the past two years, NRMCA engineers have been in contact with the American Institute of Architects to ensure that the MasterSpec is consistent with ACI 301-16 and 318-14 requirements related to concrete with reduced level of prescriptive requirements and has improved language relating to the quality of acceptance testing. What follows is a summary of revisions made in the MasterSpec December 2018 version that pertain to the quality of acceptance testing.

The reporting deadline is Friday, March 1. Click here to learn more about EPCRA, chemical/material thresholds and how to report. On January 3, 2019, NRMCA Government Affairs was on Capitol Hill to meet and greet new Members of Congress and their staffs. The first day of each Congress is typically a time when each office hosts an open house for constituents and interested parties to drop in, say hello and meet new members and staff. NRMCA stopped by to see a number of returning friends, including Reps. Rodney Davis (R-IL), Garret Graves (R-LA), David Rouzer (R-NC) and Sens. Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS). In addition, NRMCA was able to drop in on Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) and newly elected Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Kevin Cramer (R-ND). Each of these offices represents a strong ally to the ready mixed concrete industry and NRMCA’s Government Affairs agenda. For more information, contact Andrew Tyrrell at atyrrell@nrmca.org. The third annual Cement and Concrete Fly-In will be held April 9-10, 2019. Mark these days on your calendar and make plans to attend. We will be joining members of other North American Concrete Alliance (NACA) associations to lobby on federal issues important to the industry. As the Democratic House majority seeks bipartisan issues to collaborate with the Republican Senate and president, NACA associations must seize the opportunity to lobby for a robust infrastructure investment.
