NRMCA asks your company to fill out the annual Mixer Driver Recruitment & Retention Survey. With the largest participation rate of all NRMCA surveys, results represent approximately 30% of the driver pool. To keep such robust statistical reporting we need your input. If you are not an NRMCA Producer member, please forward the survey link to your clients. Please note the following:

The two month nomination window for the 2021 NRMCA Developing Industry Leaders class firmly closed last Friday, April 30. The announcement of this year’s participants will follow in about two weeks. NRMCA’s Developing Industry Leader (DIL) program offers a limited number of company-nominated middle managers the unique opportunity to network with peers and senior leaders from across the country while also learning about issues and solutions facing the ready mixed concrete industry. This is a career-long experience; it is not bound by age or geography or time. Once the initial year’s program is complete, DIL are invited to a number of alumni networking opportunities throughout their careers in the industry. For further information, please e-mail Eileen Dickson at edickson@nrmca.org. The estimated ready mixed concrete produced in February 2021 is 21.0 million cubic yards, 10.5% lower than that in February 2020. The estimated production in the U.S. through February is 45.6 million cubic yards, approximately 6.2% lower than that during the same period in 2020. Ready mixed concrete production is estimated from cement shipments reported by the U.S. Geological Survey. More detail is available here for NRMCA members under “Production Statistics.” Buildings
The Pennsylvania Aggregate & Concrete Association (PACA) recently hosted a site tour of a 5-story ICF apartment building being developed by Byler Holdings of South Central PA. PACA President Peter Vlahos and Director of Concrete Promotion & Certifications Ken Crank joined NRMCA Senior Director, Building Innovations, Doug O’Neill and the Byler Holdings team to discuss how and why this project was converted from stick frame to concrete. A site tour (show here) was then conducted showcasing the actual construction and a meet and greet with ICF Contractor Streamline Construction. This developer not only chose concrete for this conversion, but also selected concrete pavement at a newly-built Fairfield Inn within this development, titled North Cornwall Commons. It also announced that another 5-story apartment building will be built adjacent to the current site that will be ICF as well. The opportunity for more ICF construction within this development is strong, especially with the continued rise of wood framing costs, O'Neill reported. PACA and Build With Strength PA helped fund the production of a video titled Building Smarter & Better - North Cornwall Commons that highlighted the day’s events. For more information, contact Doug O’Neill at doneill@nrmca.org or Ken Crank at ken@pacaweb.org.
