NRMCA's Ready Mixed Concrete Delivery Professional Driver of the Year Award, now in its 28th year and sponsored by the Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau, acknowledges the significant contribution of ready mixed concrete truck drivers to the growth and success of individual companies and the ready mixed concrete industry. As a salute to these key members of the concrete production and delivery team, the award recognizes the driver’s career achievement, safety, professionalism, competence and customer service skills in a manner that will enhance the industry and public image of the career of Ready Mixed Concrete Delivery Professional. NRMCA has extended the deadlines for the Shydlowski-Turner Leadership Award and the Concrete Cares Award to January 15, 2024. The Materials Division of NRMCA established the Shydlowski – Turner Materials Leadership Award to honor and recognize an individual who as a materials supplier to the ready mixed concrete industry exemplifies leadership, commitment and support for the ready mixed concrete industry and the initiatives and activities of NRMCA. The Manufacturers, Products & Services (MPS) Division of NRMCA established the Concrete Cares Award to recognize outstanding contributions in community service by an NRMCA Producer member company. The second year of the popular webinar series had nine new two-hour sessions with a total of 18 hours of continuing education this year. The estimated ready mixed concrete produced in September is 34.8 million cubic yards, 7.7% lower than in September 2022. The estimated production in the U.S. through September is 297 million cubic yards, approximately 2.5% lower than that during the same period in 2022. Ready mixed concrete production is estimated from cement shipments reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.
