all young renters eventually want to buy a home and a convincing majority still

quarterly consumer survey released by the National Association of REALTORS

The
National Association of REALTORS has received reports that sophisticated email
scams are targeting the real estate industry. Criminals are hacking into the
email accounts of either the real estate agent or another person involved in
the transaction and using information to get someone, usually the buyer, to
make a fraudulent wire transfer. NAR Legal Affairs has developed a checklist to

Privately-owned
housing starts in November fell 8.5 percent for the Northeast to 130,000,
according to data released by the U.S. Commerce Department. October’s total was
142,000. Building permits for the Northeast saw no change in November,
remaining at 131,000. Learn more here.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that he will
deliver the State of the State address and present his 2016-17 Executive Budget in one
combined presentation on Wednesday, Jan.13, 2016. The governor will use the speech to outline
his legislative and budget priorities for the year. The address will be followed by the release

On Monday, Dec. 21, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the appointment of Robert F. Mujica as director for
the New York State Division of the Budget. Mujica served in the state Senate for 19 years and was most recently
the chief of staff for former Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and secretary for the
State Senate Finance Committee. The state Budget Division is a critical state agency that is charged with working with
the governor to present an annual fiscal plan for consideration by Legislature. Read more here.

For the fourth consecutive
year, NYSAR has exceeded our RPAC fundraising goal. In fact, we raised
$811,054, representing 104-percent of our goal. This tremendous fundraising
feat was accomplished by the generous investments made by 15,278 New York
REALTORS, representing 99-percent of our 2015 participation goal.
