Home
purchase sentiment reached an all-time survey high in July, an indication that
Americans are feeling more upbeat about the housing market, according to Fannie
Mae. The share of consumers who said they would buy if they were going to move
climbed to 67 percent, while the share of consumers who said they would rent
dropped to 26 percent, an all-time survey low. Click here to

Syracuse,
NY has ranked in the top five affordable major housing markets in the country in
the second quarter of 2016, according to the most recent National Association
of Home Builders (NAHB)/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI). On the national level, solid home
price appreciation more than offset a modest reduction in mortgage interest
rates to push housing affordability lower in the second quarter. Click here to

According
to Bankrate.com,
New York State had the second highest average closing costs in the nation at
$2,560. The survey did not include title insurance, transfer tax, mortgage
recording tax, or other government taxes or fees, which drive closing costs higher. High closing costs are the main hurdle for many first-time buyers in
New York, which is why NYSAR has proposed the NY First Home program. The
program would create a new savings account to help first-time buyers save to
cover these costs. To find more information and support increased homebuying in
