Westchester County executive Rob Astorino has moved closer to becoming the potential Republican candidate for governor this year, challenging incumbent Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Other potential, but undeclared, Republican candidates include Donald Trump and Carl Paladino. Astorino is expected to formally declare his candidacy in the coming weeks.

Last week, the US Senate voted 68-32 to pass the $956 billion farm bill that President Barack Obama is expected to sign in the coming days. Of interest to REALTORS is a section extending the definition of the term "rural" for eligibility in rural housing programs.
