Apprenticeship Program Request
As many of you are aware, the NYRWA has applied for, and is working with the New York State Department of Labor, to be granted a registered apprenticeship program for both Water Systems Operation Specialist and Wastewater Systems Operation Specialist.

We are pleased to announce that our filing is progressing through the system, and we are now at a point where we need water and wastewater systems from across NYS to agree, in writing, that they would consider employing an apprentice when they have an opening in the future. Our representatives, Kevin Maine and Jamie Herman will be reaching out to systems requesting their consideration. We will be happy to meet with you and provide any information necessary for your community to make an informed decision.

There are many Water and Wastewater Operation Specialists nearing retirement. We are hoping a Registered Apprenticeship Program will provide yet another avenue for your communities and systems to continue to provide for the needs of your residents.
