NYRWA News
With the Holiday season upon us, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our system and associate members. This has been a very successful year for the association which would not have been possible without the dedicated service of our board and staff, but mostly, due to the continued support and commitment from our system and associate members. We are grateful for each and every one of you…each who bring a little something different but equally important to the table. Without your support, this association and the services we provide would be greatly diminished. Thank you, one and all, YOU are what makes this association special. Personally, I wish to thank each of you for your support and guidance over the last few years. Your voices are heard, your comments are considered, and your input is what continues to drive this association forward! I wish each of you and your families a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy some well deserved time with family and friends, and don’t forget to take a moment to look around and enjoy all that you have that brings joy to your life. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
The Board and Staff at NYRWA are pleased to welcome our newest employee, Jonathon Barnes, as our Wastewater Trainer/Technician. Jon will be providing training across the state and will also be providing on-site technical assistance to municipal wastewater facilities serving fewer than 10,000 people in areas west of NYS Route 81. Jon comes to the association with a wide knowledge having served as the Deputy DPW Superintendent for the Village of Bolivar, where he was responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of the village. He has a 2A Wastewater Certification as well as a IIA, IIB & D Water Certification. We welcome Jon and look forward to his fresh perspective as we move forward into the future.
Each year, our board and staff work very hard to spread the word of our (5) College Scholarship Awards. We provide up to (5) $500 scholarships for first time or returning college students annually. The application deadline for the 2020 awards will be February 5, 2020. All applications must be postmarked by that date. Applicants must be a citizen or legal resident of the United States, a resident of the State of New York, and reside within a water or wastewater system that is a member of the NYRWA. Applications are available on our website www.nyruralwater.org and in our quarterly Aquafacts magazine. Upcoming Training
