W102 Tender Forms and the Tendering Process: Best Practices

It all starts with the tendering process. Every year hundreds of thousands of projects are tendered in Canada. Some tenders are simple and straightforward, others lead to confusion and disqualifications. What makes a great tender package? What types of tenders should be avoided? This session will focus on what attendees should know about the tendering process and how to shorten, simplify and standardize tender forms. Following this session, attendees should be able to recognize a great tender form. Learn how to prepare simple uncomplicated tender forms, what is the best time to close a tender, unit prices, separate prices, identified prices, alternate prices, and how can owners obtain the best value for their money.

T110 What does it take to be a Construction Safety Champion?

T110 – A panel of industry leaders will discuss the importance of improving and changing the safety culture in the construction industry. This panel focuses on the work of Rob Ellis, whose MySafeWork foundation has been speaking to the next generation of workers at schools and training centres about the impact industry leaders can have. The panel will present the League of Champions and how its role is a major tool in making positive changes happen at all levels of the industry. Also presented will be how firms and individuals can become Champions to promote safety throughout the province.
