Julian Toy, H.S.C. Presented "Supporting Employees During COVID-19" at the LOC Webinar

On May 4, Julian Toy, H.S.C. Substance Abuse Professional and member of The Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals participated in the League of Champions webinar for Mental Health week 2020. Julian delivered “Supporting Employees During COVID-19.” The module was full of suggestions for supervisors to improve employees’ mental health. The webinar is available here.
One suggestion Julian made was for supervisors to modify traditional boundaries to help employees. He offered a number of specific suggestions for this as well as an overview of some pitfalls for supervisors to avoid. Julian also discussed how to prepare to support employees and the differences between sympathy and empathy.
Julian also suggested his module “Optimising Mental Health during COVID-19” as an effective way to support employees’ mental health. He briefly outlined his online services including ICI specific Supervisor Fit for Duty/Drug and Alcohol training, Employee Addiction Awareness Training, Fit for Duty/Drug and Alcohol policy development and Defensible Documentation training.
