Easing of COVID 19 Containment Measures – Potential Effects on Employees

Now that there is some easing of containment measures in Ontario, this may have a bit of a whip-like effect on employee’s attitudes toward COVID precautions on the jobsite.
Some employees may resist or argue if asked to use PPE or follow social distancing on the jobsite. They may not be as careful of other’s boundaries, which could cause conflict. If you notice this, understand there is a deep psychological desire in us all for things to “go back to normal”.
If you encounter these behaviors on the jobsite, be patient and explain that precautions are still necessary for safety and compliance, but admit that it is frustrating and tiring and that it will be nice once COVID 19 containment measures are rolled back.
This will help diffuse employees who are upset.
