Bill 238 Will Reduce Construction WSIB Costs

The Legislature has passed Bill 238 The Workplace and Insurance Amendment Act. The focus of the Act is to correct the anomaly of a 7.8% jump in the WSIB’s maximum assessment ceiling by holding the increase to 2%.
As a result, the WSIB has adjusted the assessment ceiling down to $97,308. effective Jan. 1, 2021.
We have congratulated and thanked Minister McNaughton, who sponsored the legislation, for recognizing the unreasonable impact on contractors and other industries who pay higher wages, and taking action to address the problem.
