OGCA members are always trying to make a difference in their communities; be that local, cultural or global. Our members continually strive to affect positive change and work toward the betterment of all.
EllisDon, in conjunction with Raising the Roof are looking for other organizations to support the 2021/2022 “Shaping the Future Program.”
The program encourages high-school students across Canada, using their preferred means of expression (such as poetry, visual art, music, and more), to share their vision of a world that fosters a hate-free society by embracing the Black experience.
This program offers the students:
- Publicly available scholarships, bursaries and other forms of financial assistance to students to be used for post-secondary education and to their community.
- Training programs and access to networking and leadership events by industry partners to students. This includes possible co-op and internship placements.
- A series of workshops on mental health and counselling services to students
Everyone can help through one or more of the following avenues:
- Sponsorship (see attached package)
- Direct Donations (please use the form at the bottom of the webpage)
- Raising awareness of this program via your platform.
- Other empowering means of your choice not specified herein
“EllisDon has taken a very progressive effort to combat racism and intolerance, at EllisDon, in our construction industry, and in society as a whole. We have to come together to fight anti-Black racism, intolerance and bigotry, and gender inequity. We know that we have to urgently fight in the 'here and now', but that we must also look to the future, and reach down into our schools to engage, educate and energize as many young people as possible. The ABEEL Shaping the Future Sponsorship program is an outstanding accomplishment and a great example of team leadership.” GEOFF SMITH PRESIDENT & CEO OF ELLISDON CORPORATION
