CCA is pleased to launch its advocacy platform, the Construction Action Network, a tool designed to communicate our issues directly to government by empowering our members and partners to easily send a pre-written letter to the representatives in their riding.

As the federal election is only a few weeks away, CCA has designed a campaign for our industry to come together, stand up for Canada’s future and ensure action is taken to Build a Better Canada.

Facing a debt of $1.6 trillion, it’s time for action and investment that will help people, businesses, families and communities thrive now, and well into the future. Construction will be a key sector driving Canada’s future economy, creating jobs, connecting communities and countries, and increasing confidence in consumer spending and private investment.

Take Action - Send your letter today.

Please be advised that effective January 1, 2022, the CCDC 2 EV 2008 document and seals will be obsolete and replaced by the CCDC 2 EV 2020 version.

The seals are not interchangeable and any remaining stock can be returned to the OGCA office for replacement from the CCA free of charge. If you have any seals that need to be replaced, please contact Judy at the OGCA office.

TORONTO — With over 82 per cent of eligible Ontarians aged 12 and over having received one dose of the vaccine and 75 per cent having received both doses, the government is continuing its last mile strategy to reach eligible individuals who have yet to receive a first or second dose. These latest efforts continue to make vaccines readily and conveniently available, especially in lower-vaccinated areas, and include proactively contacting individuals who have not booked their accelerated second dose appointment.

As I sit in a Drive Test parking lot waiting for my newly turned 16-year-old daughter to complete her G1 test, a number of things cross my mind. Line-ups, line-ups and another line after that. With my older kids, as many of you have done, I was able to walk in with them, take a corner seat and patiently wait for their nerves to subside while taking these first steps to independence. Thanks to our new COVID-19 reality, all of that has changed. I waited outside with her as the office opened at 7 a.m. while the line behind us steadily grew. The staff member provided her with a number, pointed to the door, and off she went. Shortly thereafter, I received a text that said, ‘mum, I am so nervous in here, I can’t remember our postal code’.

As partners of Threads of Life, we are pleased to share the following link to a campaign aimed at inspiring planned giving, called Will Power. The Will Power Campaign is working to create positive change while urging Canadians to think differently about planned giving and leaving a gift to charity in their will.

If you have ever considered planned giving, the following press release provides an overview of the Will Power Campaign. This 10-year initiative is trying to increase legacy giving in Canada by 3.5% (from 5% to 8.5%). These numbers would translate to an additional $40 billion dollars in support of Canadian charities. If you have any questions regarding Threads of Life, please contact Scott McKay, Director, Partnerships and Fundraising directly at smckay@threadsoflife.ca
