During this past weekend, we all paused from our work lives and celebrated Canada Day. It is a wonderful day of recognition that we, as an entire country, celebrate Canada’s birthday. Or more succinctly, the celebration, commencing in 1867, of when Canada started its pursuit of full sovereignty and came together as a fully unified country.
Throughout this weekend, and amidst all of the family time and barbequing that was taking place, I reflected as to what Canada Day means to me and how I associate this day, and this country, with jobs in the construction sectors.

The WSIB now recognises the S-CAT Survey aligns with their Health and Safety Excellence Program (HSEP). The program requires participants to survey their work force to recognise safety needs. Now the League of Champion’s Safety Culture Survey is aligned with the WSIB’s HSEP program to allow participants to quickly access the program and take advantage of the incentives and respond to the finds of the survey. The S-CAT is recognised as a leading indicator of a contractor’s health and safety program and is a compelling piece of evidence for the WSIB validation of Excellence program topics. For more information, see the attached or contact your Excellence Program provider. Apply for the WSIB Elizabeth Witmer Health and Safety Leadership Awards. This year, the LOC has launched a campaign on ‘Building and Measuring Your Safety Culture using the Safety Climate Assessment Tool (S-CAT)’ to promote and advance safety culture with its members and also build industry awareness. A strong safety culture to a core value for LOC members and this program will support building more effective programs.
This guide will assist businesses in measuring their organizational health and safety climate with the Safety Climate Assessment tool (S-CAT), highlighting how the S-CAT aligns with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)'s Health and Safety Excellence program. Moreover, using the S-CAT as a leading indicator of a business's health and safety program can be a compelling piece of evidence during WSIB validation of Excellence program topics.
