I hope that everyone reading this can all recall the two separate OGCA Members Bulletins that were circulated regarding the legislated requirement that was enacted in 2017, that reclassified some Road Building Machines to Commercial Motor Vehicles (Highway/Road Vehicles).

The Innovation Spotlight Awards is an annual opportunity to recognize the most innovative companies and professionals in the membership. The Awards program benchmarks trends and the technological evolution of the building and infrastructure industry by demonstrating and recognizing the technological advances and the overall impact on the larger industry. The OGCA is helping general contractors assess innovative solutions to industry problems to help members navigate the construction technology market. When people tell me that the August Civic Holiday is the halfway point of the summer, I often respond with “there’s no need for that sort of language.” It is, however the reality of living in Ontario.
This past weekend was a busy one for all sorts of reasons. A couple of years ago, my son was gifted a parcel of land when his beloved Nonno (grandfather) passed away at the incredible age of 93. Most of this property is rented to a local farmer, but my son chose to maintain the acre closest to the road. This is the place that we fondly call The Farm.

The IHSA has released research results that demonstrates that certified firms have reduced participants injury rates by 28%.
Dr. Chris McLeod of the University of British Columbia presented the initial findings at the OGCA Leadership Conference on May 6. The final report has now been released and is the first in depth study of the Ontario COR certification effect on health and safety in Ontario workplaces.
