A new year has begun and that means that we now have a blank canvas in front of us. This new “clean slate” offers each of us 365 separate and distinct opportunities to grow, change and advance, both professionally and personally. Some of us may continue advancing from our goals and aspirations of last year, but for most it is a chance at making a change. The changes you make may be minute, but can also carry significant impact.
Industry News
As contracting firms continue to adjust to ongoing supply chain and labour supply challenges, it may seem like the addition of spiking inflation, rising lending rates, and the threat of project delays and cancellations would be enough to put a bucket of ice water on the industry, but most companies seem to be moving ahead as strong backlogs of work are providing a level of resiliency that is not present in all segments of Canada’s economy.
The start of a new year allows people to reset and start a new chapter in their own personal and professional endeavours. This may take many forms, and at times, it means that we say goodbye to those that have assisted in moving the association forward.
innovation Corner
Looking ahead to 2023, Jay Saraw, VP, Canada, Procore, expects a year of challenge and change as the Canadian construction industry grapples with ongoing problems such as the labour shortage while continuing to move toward integrated project delivery to achieve greater efficiency.
OGCA Tech Check
Construction is complicated, yet it is often generalized as lagging behind other industries when it comes to the adoption of new technologies and processes. We want to know how, and most importantly why, you don’t use technology.
Safety
The OGCA Safety Advisory Committee was created by our members for our members, and welcome you to join us. The Committee meets monthly with updates from both the CPO and the MLITSD as well as timely industry updates. Each OGCA member company is welcome to provide one delegate for these meetings. If you are interested in participating, please email judith@ogca.ca with a name and email.
