The OGCA expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Hazel McCallion and to all who were touched by this incredible leader. Hazel was the champion of Mississauga and completely gave herself to the service of her beloved city. The OGCA, and its members, will miss Hazel, as she had her own unique style. Comfortable in all settings, Hazel was the catalyst that propelled Mississauga to what it is today. Hazel was and will always be inspirational, and she will be profoundly missed.

In a recently released report, Canadian Green Retrofit Economy Study, the Delphi Group and the Green Building Council of Canada provide insights into the scope and size of the green retrofit economy, and further delve into the workforce requirements and supply chain needs for the green retrofitting of Canada’s existing stock of commercial and high-rise residential buildings.
A complaint urging the Competition Bureau to investigate an exclusive and costly labour deal at The Ottawa Hospital has been submitted by the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA), whose members build major infrastructure and capital projects.

Those in attendance at the Ontario General Contractors Association’s (OGCA) second annual Chair’s New Year’s party got a sneak peek at what 2023 will look like for the province’s construction industry.
Former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion is being remembered by construction stakeholders as a staunch ally of the sector, an excellent listener and plainspoken negotiator who balanced the needs of citizens with the requirements of builders.
McCallion, who served as mayor from 1978 to 2014, died peacefully in her sleep Jan. 29 at the age of 101.
