TTC is implementing the COR requirement in a phased approach to ensure that the number of certified contractors is sufficient to allow for competitive bidding. OGCA, in partnership with MySafeWork, has launched the construction industry's League of Champions, with the goal of changing the safety culture in Ontario. This involves reaching out to the next generation of employees, construction workers and industry leadership. Presentations, events and programs are being rolled out to support this goal.

Safety
This year, the ministry is coordinating the proactive enforcement blitz and initiative schedules for the Occupational Health and Safety Program, as well as the Employment Standards Program. Coordinating the schedule highlights the importance that the ministry places on enhancing employers' awareness of their responsibilities and protecting workers' rights under both the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and the Employment Standards Act (ESA).

An overwhelming amount of support from employees and subtrades made this event a huge success! Rob Ellis was on hand for several events at various locations across the province. Walsh, EllisDon, GEN-PRO, Merit, PCL, Turner, Kenaidan and Alpeza also held events to celebrate Safety Week. More pictures will be coming in the next few weeks from some of these events.
