OGCA News

Ontario General Contractors Association

By way of background, the OGCA, through the Board of Directors, highlighted early in 2021 the need to attract more individuals to construction as a whole, but specifically to the categories of Site Supervisors and Project Managers.

Clearly these two positions are critical for our members and so, the OGCA enlisted the professional assistance of outside organizations to further facilitate the discussion. First Work, who are Ontario’s leading youth employment network, and Purpose Co., a workforce solutions organization, were approached to create a working paper through an OGCA member study.

The recent federal budget fell short of a strong commitment to infrastructure investment, despite the clear need. As we all know, infrastructure is critical to the quality of life of Canadians and the competitiveness of our country. As recent events such as fires and floods have shown, the importance of building in resiliency cannot be overstated.

Don’t let water damage sideline your construction project
Northbridge Insurance®
Severe water damage can cause several challenges for construction companies. Related project delays can translate into increased costs in labour and materials and can also drive up financing costs from lenders to finish the project, heavily impacting developers’ bottom lines. The reality is that water damage during the construction stage of a building is one of the largest risks to completing a project on time and on budget.

You may not realize you’ve hit burnout until you’ve crossed the line between “really tired” and “too exhausted to function.” Alternatively, you might be the type of personality who likes to stay busy, and might not recognize when you’re doing too much. Burnout also happens when your work-life balance gets out of sync. This has been a common occurrence in the last few years, with the rise in remote work and technology permeating our daily lives.
