Indiana University School of Optometry Professor Donald T. Miller Named AAO’s 2020 Glenn A Fry Lecture Award Recipient
The American Academy of Optometry Foundation has named IU School of Optometry Professor Donald T. Miller the 2020 Glenn A. Fry Lecture Award recipient.
Dr. Miller joined the faculty at IUSO in 1998, where he has spent the last two decades teaching and conducting research. He teaches optics to professional and graduate students and has received the IU Trustees’ Teaching Award twice for excellence in teaching.
Dr. Miller’s laboratory has pioneered the use of adaptive optics and optical coherence tomography in developing powerful microscopy methods to peer into the eye. His systems enable live-cell imaging in the retina and detection of physiological processes falling in the realm of molecules. These discoveries are empowering scientists to study vision at the most fundamental level and eye care specialists to detect changes at the onset of disease. Dr. Miller’s research has been funded by NIH and NSF for more than two decades.
He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers.
