Drs. Nyman and Gurwood Receive Salus University's Presidential Medal of Honors
Neal Nyman, OD, a retired associate professor in the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University, and Andrew Gurwood, OD ‘89, Resident ‘90, FAAO, were among those honored with the University’s 2020 Presidential Medal of Honor.
The Presidential Awards are among the highest honors bestowed by the university, distinguishing faculty and alumni work that extends well beyond its Pennsylvania campus.
Dr. Nyman, who taught for 33 years at PCO/Salus before retiring in 2018, is a well-respected clinician who easily imparted knowledge to interns and residents alike. He greatly expanded the way PCO/Salus approached both ethics and patient-doctor communications.
Dr. Gurwood, professor of Clinical Sciences and co-chief of Suite 3 at The Eye Institute of Salus, has lectured and published nationally and internationally on a wide range of subjects in the arena of ocular disease. He was also named the Salus Alumni Association’s Albert Fitch Memorial Alumnus of the Year in 2020.
