IUSO’s Robert L. Carter OD Scholarship
A new scholarship will be endowed with $100,000 through a combination of annual gifts and an estate gift from IUSO alum Robert L. Carter. The scholarship is for incoming graduate students in the Doctor of Optometry program at the Indiana University School of Optometry. Preference will be given to children of military veterans.
After earning his OD, Dr. Carter served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1973, he returned to IUSO as an assistant professor of optometry. He left in 1975 to follow Dr. Jack Bennett to Michigan College of Optometry (MCO). Dr. Carter retired from MCO in 2011, but continued to work for years as an adjunct clinical faculty member at its University Eye Center.
