IU School of Optometry Emeritus Clinical Professor Dr. Richard Meetz Honored
On April 13, Richard Meetz, OD’76, received the Spirit of Philanthropy Award, which honors individuals, corporations and foundations that have contributed to the success of Indiana University through significant gifts and voluntary services.
Dr. Meetz is a 2020 award recipient, but the celebration was delayed one year due to COVID-19. He is an emeritus clinical professor at the IU School of Optometry, where he taught for 27 years. Dr. Meetz is internationally recognized for his contributions to the profession of optometry and is the recipient of 12 state, national, and international teaching awards. He has provided gifts to IUSO that have endowed the Richard Earl Meetz Scholarship and a teaching laboratory that will be named in his honor.
